Fire Prevention week was Sunday October 8 - Saturday October 14 and to help make our Community aware the North Frontenac Fire Department hosted a very informative and fun Open House at the Ompah Community Centre last Thursday evening. There was a FREE BARBQ (I am still thinking about their delicious burgers!) Kids big and small enjoyed a visit from Sparky the Fire Dog and bouncing around in the big blow up FireStation. There was a live fire demo showing us what to do with a grease fire (don't add water!) Baking Soda or Salt is the solution! This year's theme was cooking safety starts with you! The most important tips I took from the Open House was to make sure we have baking soda and to check our smoke and carbon monoxide alarms to make sure they are working well. I also want to review a fire escape plan with my family and make sure we have two plans of escape. Thank you North Frontenac Fire Department for keeping our Community Safe and Prepared!
