November 17-19, the U13 Frontenac Flyers Rep Team travelled to Pembroke for the Silver Stick Regional tournament. Twelve teams from across Eastern Ontario competed for the honour, and the Flyers used their speed, tenacity, and ability to move the puck to go undefeated in Round Robin play.

The Flyers found themselves facing the Douro Dukes in the semi-finals. This much bigger team proved a challenge for the boys in regular season play, but it was a game of redemption for the Flyers with disciplined defensive play, steady goaltending, and a team-first approach on offense. In a nail-biting battle, the U13s won the semi-final 2-1.  We knew nothing would be easy in the Finals against the Norwood Hornets, and the Flyers, true to their name, came out flying with hard passes, constant pressure, and relentless back-checking to battle their way to a 1-0 win. Head Coach Mike Chiasson is proud of the dedication, effort, skill, and compete-level that each player brings to the team noting that "champions are made when you work hard and play as a team".

The U13s are coached by incredibly dedicated and knowledgeable volunteers Mike Chiasson, Al Lapierre, Jef Peck, Simon Johnson, and Owen Tryon. Chiasson explained that "a huge part of the team's success is due to the positive and strong connection of the bench staff and the behind the scenes support from the community and parents". The team would like to thank their community sponsors for their generosity and the Frontenac community for their support.

As the Eastern Ontario Champions for U13 C centres, the Flyers will be travelling to Forest, ON for the International Silver Stick Finals in January where they’ll face the top U13 teams from across the province and the United States. The players and coaching staff are working hard to prepare and are excited and very proud to represent Frontenac County. If you’d like to come see these athletes play, you can catch the final two home games of 2023 on the 16th and 23rd at 3:30pm at FAC or follow them at #FrontenacHockey
