The sound of music is back in Arden for the first time in more than three years.
For the past month a group of singers including some former Glee Club members, has been getting together on Tuesday afternoons at Kennebec Hall to bring music back to the community. This follows a three year hiatus caused by the pandemic and the death a year ago of the choir’s beloved musical director, Helen Praskey.
“In a departure from previous choirs, we’re including some musical instrument accompaniment in addition to favourite songs from our repertoire of unaccompanied, a capella singing,” said interim musical director, Adrian O’Connell.
“Many people don’t realize how well they can sing. If you can sing in the shower, then you’re likely more musical than you think!” laughed O’Connell, who emphasized that new participants will not have to audition. “So come on out – see what we’re about and have some fun.”
The choir meets at Kennebec Hall in Arden, every Tuesday afternoon between 1 and 3 p.m.
