The 3rd Annual Fun Sharbot Lake Pickleball Tournament in Sharbot Lake was a great success. There were 48 participants and about 20 spectators .
Pickleball draws locals and seasonal visitors alike.
This fun and very social sport is growing very quickly, as it attracts all age groups. Though, to this point, middle-aged and seniors are the most predominant here.
Our group has done its best to renovate an old neglected tennis court into four Pickleball courts on Garrett St.
If you have never seen the sport, come out around 10am on a sunny weekday morning and watch the fun!
Our goal is to redevelop the courts to current standards in the near future. This will require a bit of a fundraising effort, but the vast majority of funds will be sourced through Provincial grants.
The non-financial support of the council will be an important component as well.
Pickleball is becoming a very important part of the social network in our community. It is also an important way draw to visitors and potential retirees to the area.
