Sometimes, when least expected, we are reminded of a quote or a message that we had not thought about in years.

Today was one such moment for me, and the quote I remembered was that of Ghandi:

"Happiness is when what you think, what you say, and what you do are in    harmony.”

Why today, and how does that link into a Lions' Roar in Oct?

In receiving the weekly informative, often hilarious, email from our club secretary, Lynn Lowe, I read about a "food demonstration" that our Service Chairperson, Sandra Carman is organizing. Not a political demonstration, yet a demonstration non-the-less, Lynn tells us.

We are to parade the route in front of our club carrying symbols of food, not for the purpose of raising funds, not for the purpose of gathering donations; but merely for raising awareness.

Hunger is, sadly, a truth in our day and time. Lions around the world have taken hunger as a main focus area that needs to be addressed on regular basis.

And while our club donates to the Food Bank annually; and while our club members put hours of service at the Food Bank and at the Community Services towards food distribution, we are taking a slightly different angle this time.

We are standing to say: we are willing to make fun of ourselves wearing food symbols as we think of hunger and food needs in our area and in the world.

We are willing to "demonstrate in happiness" in order to arrive to the harmony that bridges our thoughts and acts of our support to our community where no one sleeps hungry.

If we, members of the Lions Club of Land O’Lakes, are willing to go that far in showing how important it is to everyday think, to everyday act towards abolishing hunger; how far are you willing to take our pictures and post them on your social media pages with the message: Let their Roar be heard and let hunger be stopped.

Till we meet again in a Roar, and while you prepare for witches carrying cauldrons and ghosts in white, remember to pass by the Lions Hall between Oct 19 and 21 to take a picture of a unique demonstration that says it all: We are together.
