It was a musical afternoon at the Lions Hall a few weeks ago, and jamming was the name! The word "jamming" caught my attention at a different level; I somehow, and for the first time, noted how much of a jamming attitude is felt at a Lions meeting.
How so?
Well, people from all walks of life come together with the purpose of serving; every new Lion carrying unique potentials and experiences. And while those differences seem wide upon joining, much like the start of a jamming session, over the course of the meetings the rhythm of many seems to blend into music of one.
Common goals develop, an overall sense of purpose is built; and in one instance, everyone in the musical club seems to talk the same language. And the club is solidified under those common notes.
And in thinking of the route of "jamming into a solid club", I thought of the Roar; that little melody that always makes me smile at the beginning of a meeting. I smile as I see faces too shy to sing and ones too loud to stop. Yet, even in that moment of jamming, everyone comes together to say: let's hear those Lions roar.
To strum a guitar to the beat of the drum; or to lead an event to the rhythm of a club, I can hear the music in both. Is the imagery an overreach? Maybe. But, until the guitars and drums align there will be no jam; and until the event aligns to the club an inauguration will not exist.
I will leave it at that for now.
Until we meet again in a Roar, have fun, watch the leaves as they catch the colors of the sun, and remember to meet us at the Lions Hall on October 15 from 2-5pm for Music & Friends.
