On Saturday Mar 16, head out to the Verona Lion's Club at 2504 Sand Rd for South Frontenac Township's Rec & Leisure Fair. From 11-2, over 25 different clubs will be available for information and registration.  One stop shopping for all your spring and summer recreation opportunities!

Come out to Finnegan’s General Store on March 16th from 11am – 2pm for a community pot luck. Bring your favourite dish to share with others. There is no cost!

News from the Cloyne Recreation Club: “Meet the Machine 2024” is in the planning stages! Save the date, June 1. We are seeking all sorts of machines that kids would love to explore! If you are interested, please message Michelle Alcock. Come and showcase your products and services!

The Denbigh Recreation Committee is hosting cards on Friday March 22 at 7pm at the Denbigh Hall.  Come join the fun!!

The Denbigh Library has some great news to share.  A Seed Library is set up where you can take seeds or leave seeds for others.    There are also some new Non-Fiction books:  fermentation: history, uses and recipes, Farmhouse Vegetables by Micheal Smith, Grow Fruit Trees Fast by Adam Grant, and Simple and Natural Soapmaking.

Denbigh Recreation Committee is hosting an Irish Stew Dinner on Saturday March 16 from 4:30 to 6:30 p.m. at the Denbigh Hall.   Cost is $15 or under 8  is $8.  The meal will be gluten free.

Denbigh Recreation Committee says the Easter Bunny is coming to the Denbigh Hall on Saturday March 30 from 11:00 a.m. until 1:00 p.m. 

There will be a St Paddy’s Day Dinner and Dance on Saturday March 16 at the Matawatchan Hall.  The entire event runs from 5:00 to 12:00 p.m. and if you want to go to everything which is the “All The Shenanigans Package” Package (Dinner, live Music and Dance) the cost is $20.00.   If you just want to go to the Live Music and Dance with Bar (19+) from 7pm to 12am. The cost is $10.    They are thrilled to welcome Canadian Fiddle Champion Robbie Dagenais with Ian Clark, vocals and guitar from 7pm to 9pm.

The International Art and Found Day was held on March 12,w with artists in over 50 countries leaving free artwork in their neighbourhoods for local residents to find and enjoy. How many fools will take the fundraising fools polar plunge on April 1 at 9am at the Arden mill pond? Start getting sponsors for this plunge in aid of recreation and phase 3 of the new rink up-dates which are an up-date to the bathroom facilities and nets around the boards. After the plunge the Arden Legion hosts a brunch. This is so exciting with thanks to all helpers and volunteers.

Tomorrow - Friday March 15 Kennebec Recreation hosts an adult games night (18 plus years) at Kennebec Hall with the doors open at 7pm and games starting at 7:30pm. This is a low-key evening of games, refreshments, fun and all are welcome.

Be sure to check out the yummy St. Patrick’s breakfast at Arden United this Sat morning March 16 from 8am - 10:30pm for a free will offering. Later the same day the Arden Legion offers a St. Patrick’s stew supper (adults $20, kids $10, free for five and under)

Our Harlowe friends host a fiddlers bash this third Sat of the month (March 16) at the Harlowe Hall from 1;00- 5;00 with toe tapping tunes, yummy food to buy, and lots of home spun fun. Musicians $2, Public $5. Bop on over and live it up there’s never a dull moment for sure!!

At the Community Cafe, last Wednesday, Randy Scott led a discussion on how to deal with depression, SADs and the winter blues.  It was informative and interactive with a touch of humor.   Soup, biscuits, fruit and vegetables were served.  The next Cafe will be Wed April 3.

The Community Pot Luck (Birthday Bash) will be held on Wed March 20th, 6pm at the hall.  Bring a dish to share and a good appetite.   All welcome.

SALT will present Frauds and Scams at the Snow Road Hall on Fri Mar 22 starting at 10am.. Refreshments will be served.

The annual St. Killian's Egg Hunt will be held at the Clar-Mill Hall on Sat Mar 30.

Parham-Tichborne

On Saturday March 23 the OPP will be doing a Stuff the Cruiser event to support the food bank. It will be at Mike Deans from 10 - 2. There will be members of the OPP there with a cruiser collecting donations for the North Frontenac food bank. The food bank is busier than ever and we are hoping this will be a successful event.

Don't forget Baseball registration is this Saturday March 16 at the Parham Fire Hall from 10 am to 1 pm - all teams are being capped at 13 players so you don't want to be disappointed.  Registration is also open on line until April 5 - www.fcmsc.ca - be sure to enter Central Frontenac as your area of play.

Saturday March 16 is the Parham United Church's Ham Supper from 5pm to 7 pm at the CE Building.  It has been while since we have had these most delicious meals.  Hope to see you there. $20 - adult, children age 6 to 12 are $8 Family $50.  

Mark March 23rd on your calendar for District #4 Recreation Committee's Children's Easter Party at the CE Building in Parham 1035 Wagarville Road from 10 am to noon.  Join us for some crafts, games and an Easter Egg Hunt!!

Also on March 23rd at the Oso Township Hall is a Spring Vendor Market from 10 am to 2 pm - lots of awesome deals to be had.

There is a Ham Bingo on March 22 at the Oso Hall and then mark March 26th on your calendar as there will be a Bingo at GREC so get your daubers ready!!

A yearly reminder that horses may be encountered on the road, and they have the same right of way as pedestrians. The Highway Traffic Act requires that “users of the roadway approaching horses being ridden, driven, or led to use “every reasonable precaution to prevent the frightening of the horse.” Slowing down to 40km and giving a berth would be appreciated, as it’s a real safety concern.

Easter is just a couple short weeks away and members of St. Kilian's Church are busy preparing for an Egg-citing event for the whole family on Saturday, March 30th (11am) at the Clar-Mill Hall. There will be an Easter Egg Hunt along with crafts and games, for the little ones. Everyone in the community is welcome to stop by and check out the pies, tarts and other sweet treats at their Bake Sale and stay for a chili, hot dog and soup luncheon while you are there.

For the die-hard St Patrick’s Day folks, downstairs starting at 2 pm on March 17th, St Patrick’s day social, no entry fee.

Are you aware of someone in your neighbourhood, among your friends, or within your family who could use a boost in their digital confidence? Been in our local Trousdale’s Foodland lately? Seen new tags on the shelf? Keep an eye out for the Food Bank Most Needed tag, if you’re wanting to donate to our local foodbank you can add a item to your grocery shop and donate right in the black bin by the exit as you leave. Also look for the prepared bags with foodbank needs for purchase as well. Pasta sauce is always a good item to donate as well as canned vegetables.

Enjoy a Free Community Pancake Supper on Friday, March 15 at 5:30 pm, at the Verona FM Church. This will be followed by a movie at 6:30 pm featuring Narnia-Prince Caspian. All welcome.

Community Recreation & Leisure Services Fair will be held on Saturday, March 16, from 11 am to 2 pm at the Verona Lions Hall. You're invited to come learn about and register for local sports, recreation, leisure, and social programs at the Recreation & Leisure Services Fair! There will be over 25 local service providers in attendance showcasing their programs and offerings. Plan your spring and summer activities with them!

There are two Free Food Pantries in Verona. One at Rona Hardware and the other beside the Revell used lot at 6618 Road #38. Whether a need for food or a need to give, mini pantries help feed neighbours, nourishing neighbourhoods. Help keep the pantry stocked with non-perishable food and other household necessities, toiletries, etc. “Take What You Need and Leave What You Can”.

Until further notice, Euchre at Bellrock has been canceled. There are not enough people to play Euchre.

Harrowsmith Women’s Institute is celebrating their 100th anniversary on Sunday, March 24, from 1pm to 4pm at the Golden Links Hall in Harrowsmith. There will be refreshments and sweets, as well as displays from the 1920’s and a silent auction. Proceeds will be used to send a local child to camp. Everyone is welcome to join this celebration. Wear your 1920’s garb, if you are so inclined.

South Frontenac Township will be holding an Open House discussing the Verona Housing Plan at the Verona Lions Hall on Wednesday, March 27 from 6 pm to 8 pm. They will present the findings for water and wastewater options for the proposed housing development in Verona. There will be an opportunity to ask questions. Light refreshments will be served.
