Our Pine Meadow People hosted a fun filled Annual Fall Fair- that began with an apple toss game and judging the beautiful fall artwork residents worked on this week. Horse and wagon rides courtesy of High View Farms, more games and cotton candy filled up the afternoon making precious memories.

By filling up your trunk with treats in a set up at 4:45 and then being there for distribution from 5:30- 7:30 you will make Halloween dreams come true. It is possible to drop off donations in advance for others to distribute.

Mississippi
by Pearl Killingbeck

Elaine and Harriet, Shirley Mumby and Valerie were all in for a visit on Thursday, September 21st. Love these girls to death. Valerie and Harriet brought coffee from Tim’s and Valerie brought 2 savory twisters. Bev and June came and brought me some homemade beef barley soup and a toasted tomato sandwich. All my food cravings are coming back after 6 weeks without eating.

On Saturday, Shirley came in with her granddaughters Trish and Ruby. These girls are like wanderers as you never know in what country they will turn up. They’re always on for adventure. Ruby is going to university now so the adventures have slowed down. Great visit girls – always great to see you.

I want to thank Esther and Kip from Newfoundland for the lovely letter. I love reading about you on Facebook – your walks, berry picking and visits with your family. Glad you are keeping well. We all miss you here. Thank you to Dennis and Donna Morrow for the birthday card and scratch tickets. We are not millionaires but thank you so much for thinking of me.

Best Grandma ever, Elaine DeLisle, is taking her grandchildren to Pumpkin Inferno at West Clover Park in Ottawa. Hope you all enjoy [can you sneak me in?].

Every visit is a blessing – Shirley pops in to see if I need anything – coffee, candy for my dish, etc. Bev stopped in when she had an x-ray and brought me coffee and some Kleenex, along with freshly made bagels and cream cheese. Thank you, Susan Everson, for the beautiful flowers from your garden. They brighten up the room for both me and my roommate.

I am not doing so great with my walking yet. I started walking from bed to door (about 12 ft) and 4 tile squares into hallway. The last 3 days – 24, 28, 29 – but that is with 2 nurses and my one-armed walker.

I want to thank each and every one of you again for being so kind.

We’re in October. Trick or treating is right around the corner.  The annual candy top up has begun. MEMORY LANE (new location) 4350 Mill Street has graciously offered to help with the gathering of candy donations yet again, thanks Christine. You’re spooktacular. Donations can be dropped off from Tuesday - Friday at Memory Lane between 10-4 or call 613 376 6309 to chat with her! Our village sees about 500 kids per house, so the idea of this was brought to life by a family who lives on outskirts and now it’s a tradition - so awesome.
