Howdy, Folks: Singing (yodelling) Gord Struthers here. These are my own thoughts and words and I hope they bring a smile. There’ll be no celebration of life at the present time but cremation is taking place. I’ve always loved a good barbeque. See you there. On September 20th I kind of sneaked out the back door and reached to pick a 4 leaf clover but pulled a short straw. Do I smell the aroma of someone barbecuing? The sound of a celebration? Over the years I’ve shared a song and often a eulogy for well over 50 Celebrations of Life. It has been a privilege and honour to have been asked. Some of my achievements were building a dam to hold back a 40 acre lake, building a log house and a guest cabin and raising a family. As well, I am considered a very good yodellor (check out my youtube videos) and I have sung at many, many musical venues over the years. I have many special friends, old and new acquantances – all my hunting and fishing buddies, as well as my musical friends and my family, all of whom mean the world to me. Think of me when you’re sitting on a big old rock in the middle of nowhere in silent moments, maybe a memory will come when you hear a fishing line being cast, sitting in a tree stand with a gentle breeze blowing, a waterfall, a child’s laughter or his first attempt to yodel. Please remember to water my rum tree. Gone for a stroll – catch you later. (Dang old banana peel) Proud son of the late John and Gwen Struthers. Common law husband of Eileen Maillie, dear brother of Verna Hornbeek (late George), Jack (Sylvia) and late wife Roberta, Lorraine Embury (Sonny), Don (late Elsie), Wayne (Carolyn), Ronnie (Bev), Linda Ackerman (Finley), sister-in-law Wilma, and brother-in-law Sterling Allen. Predeceased by siblings Wendell, Sharon Allen, Margaret Thompson, brother-in-law Reg and Jim, as well as an infant brother. Father of Dwayne Struthers (Rhonda), Sherry Struthers, Kim Struthers and step-father of Dwayne Maillie and David Maillie (Laura). As well, he was Poppy to 10 grandchildren and 6 (almost 7) great grandchildren. Always remembered by his many nieces, nephews and other family and friends.
