The kids had a great day fishing in the big derby on Gull Lake. The children in the photo did so well that they outfished most of the adults they were fishing with! They were all very excited when Ethan Delyea placed 1st and won a very cool G.T. and a 1st place trophy and toque. Letitia Thompson placed 2nd and won an awesome keyboard and a 2nd place trophy and toque. Kloe Thompson placed 3rd and won a handy pair of snowshoes and a 3rd place trophy and toque. The kids would like to thank all the people who run the derby for all of these wonderful prizes and they can't wait till next year to do it all again.

“Lucky #7” Trappers’ Derby by Wilf Deline

Other than a few flurries in the morning mother nature cooperated for the Frontenac Addington Trappers’ Council 7th Annual Big Gull Lake Fishing Derby. There were 90 fish of all species weighed in by adults and children. The largest pickerel was 7 lb. 8 oz. And the largest pike weighed 6 lb. 5 oz. The trappers wish to thank all the local businesses and private individuals who donated prizes and cash to ensure that this annual family event continues, and of course a huge thank you to the 450 people who purchased tickets, whether they fished or not, to support the kids and the conservation projects in our area. The F.A.T.C. now has a website: www.trapon.org, where you can see what we are working on thanks to your support. Thanks to the Frontenac News for running our report every year. So let’s start planning for next year.
