All across the country we are losing community newspapers, swallowed up by large publishing companies who quickly drop local coverage in small communities. Without the Frontenac News we would be a community unable to mull over the weekly paper with a coffee, or read an editorial significant to our local residents. We would never see prize winning drawings depicting Christmas from area school children, nor would they feel the joy & pride of seeing their efforts on the front page.
Township meetings, although accessible by sitting in on long Zoom calls are not available to everyone, as some lack internet access let alone speedy technology or time.
What about those wonderful community dinners held throughout our area? Where would those advertisements be communicated? We might never know that a local business existed that could help us with a job or service minus visually seeing the printed ads on paper.
Without the paper copy of the Frontenac News we would be a less cohesive community and a much poorer one from the aspect of reliable local news.
Thank you to your team and Winchester Printing for continuing the work of delivering the Frontenac News in printed format, as well as creating your website.
Wishing you a prosperous & productive new year.
And to all your readers...buy a subscription if you are able.
