Premier ‘Dougie’, you got it right! We cannot allow electors in individual municipalities to decide what type of voting system they want! Why just think of the consequences: increased voter turnout, policies reflecting their community’s wishes and needs, or even citizens having a greater respect and interest in democracy. No sireee bob – we can’t allow that to happen!
It’s also important to stomp down on those areas where progressive thinking has taken place. Excellent simple rationales such as “we’ve always done it that way”, and “we have to have uniformity in the municipal electoral system” will be said with such great import and deep state beliefs that it will warm the hearts and minds of the followers.
And Oh My Goodness, what if, I mean just what if, municipal electors liked a different voting system and wondered aloud “do you think it would work on the provincial level?” Why, the world would be in a grievous state of chaos. So Premier ‘Dougie’, you are very courageous by saving the province and politicians from untold suffering, chaos, and angst by preserving the system for the politicians.
