We want you comments We who write for and publish the Frontenac News do so to serve you. We are committed to providing you with stories and local news that you cannot get elsewhere. We celebrate our unique region and highlight issues that will affect its future. David Brison dedicated himself to serving everyone in this community, and Jule and Jeff are carrying on that vision.

A year ago we introduced this column, Around the Lakes. Our goal was to provide information of unique importance to our lakes, along with other items of general interest. In the past year we have covered a wide range of topics, including articles on OMYA; development challenges; a proposed Centre for Sustainable Development; the Tay River Watershed Plan; mining in our region; septic system re-inspection policies in the local townships; the need to adopt mail-in voting for the coming election; and using land trusts to preserve environmentally sensitive lands. In addition, there were articles on local activities such as the fall studio tours in Perth and Westport and the inaugural Authors in the Park event in Perth. In recent months we have presented information on invasive species that affect our region. These included Eurasian watermilfoil, zebra mussels, spiny water fleas, and purple loosestrife. There was also a report on strange lights at night plus reflections on a season in change.

Other contributors have covered a wide range of topics as well. Theyve written about council deliberations and local issues throughout our region, school activities, legal topics, and natural features in our area. There have been editorials on local and regional issues. Leo Enright has written about astronomical observations and Jean Griffin and Ankaret Dean covered nature topics. Numerous contributors have kept us abreast of happenings in their immediate area.
