Land O'Lakes Glee Club Director wins Canada Post Awardby Lorna Seaman Thanks to the efforts of Mary Ann Tryon, Postmaster at Cloyne Post Office, the Land O'Lakes Glee Club has received a cheque for $500 from the Coaching and Community Involvement Program of Canada Post. This donation has made it possible for the Glee Club to purchase new music for their annual Christmas Concert, and for a special "Sadie Hawkins" event featuring music from the fifties and sixties tentatively scheduled for the end of February.

The Coaching and Community Involvement Program of the Canada Post Corporation was developed to encourage the volunteer efforts of Canada Post employees in their communities and to demonstrate to Canadians that the Corporation is proud to be associated with and support worthy causes in the community.

Mary Ann Tryon of Northbrook has been Director of the Land O'Lakes Glee Club for five years, where her leadership, humor and patience is much appreciated. In addition to her full time work with Canada Post, Mary Ann is organist at Cloyne United Church, active in Committee work in the church and a proud grandmother. She has been creative over the last few years in promoting ways in which Canada Post can become more involved in community projects.Land O'Lakes Glee Club is an amateur community choir with forty members who come from the communities of Cloyne, Flinton, Harlowe, Kaladar, Northbrook and surrounding areas. They practice weekly on Monday evenings from 7:30 pm to 9:00 pm currently at Pineview Free Methodist Church in Cloyne. Their public performances over the last five years have included participation in the Blueberry Jamboree, Bon Echo Provincial Park Amphitheatre Programs, Gospel Sings, and Special Good Friday and Easter Concerts. They sing at Pine Meadow Nursing Home in Northbrook once a month on a regular basis. Their participation is frequently requested for funeral and memorial services and for special events. They have raised hundreds of dollars over the last five years for charitable causes. The Club is very grateful for the assistance Canada Post has given them in support of their contribution to the life of the community.
