Masonic Newsby Virgil Garrett On September 13, Frontenac Masonic Lodge 621 hosted D.D.G.G. Master R.W.Bro. Laurie Langille on his official visit. Promptly at 6:30 p.m. in the United Church C.E. Centre, R.W.Bro. Virgil Garrett, carrying the Canadian flag, and followed by piper Stuart McFarlane, age 16, playing the tune Chelsea Lee , led the head table guests to their places. A round of applause showed the approval of the Brethren. Chairman W.Bro. Brad Beattie welcomed everyone, reminding us of the sadness still prevailing with the loss of lives and destruction of the Trade Centre a year earlier.

The invocation was given by Bro. Dr. Richard Magie, followed by the Royal Anthem led by R.W.Bro. Virgil Garrett. A toast to the Queen and the Craft by W.Bro. Willis Crain was followed by a bountiful turkey banquet. After the banquet, W.Bro. Donald Smallman introduced the head table guests. A toast to our visitors by W.Bro Guy Cooke responded to R.W.Bro. Gordon Cross, assistant Gr. Chaplin from Renfrew. W.Bro. Keith Hawley proposed a toast to the Gr. Master and the Grand Lodge of Canada in the province of Ontario. R. W. Bro. Laurie Langille replied in a most appropriate way and brought us up to date on any new regulations or changes. R.W.Bro. Virgil Garrett expressed our thanks and appreciation to Rosemarie Bowick, Debbie, Eileen, Linda, Irene and Beryl for providing such an enjoyable dinner, stating that our ladies always compliment and enhance our meetings and never fail us. The Brethren gave our ladies a standing ovation. Bro. Brad Beattie thanked everyone for coming and invited them to attend Lodge, a more formal function. R.W.Bro. Virgil Garrett presented R.W.Bro. Langille with a gift of honey and our piper a monetary donation and a Scottish cap badge for his fine efforts.

Bro. Bill Bowick led the Brethren in the Junior Warden's toast and after the National Anthem everyone proceeded to the Lodge, which was opened in regular form. W.Bro. Keith Hawley D.C. and W. Bro. Donald Smallman introduced 11 visiting W. Masters who were given Grand honours, greeted by W. Bro. Beattie and seated in the East, followed by three Gr. Stewards, one member of the Board and assistant Gr. Chaplin; all were introduced, received Gr. Honours, greeted by W. Master and seated in the East. Last but not least, R.W.Bro Langille D.D.G.M. was formally presented and introduced, given Gr. Honours, escorted to the East and presented with the gavel. He then seated the Brethren and the work of the evening continued. R.W.Bro. Langille introduced his Dist. Chairman. R.W.Bro. Virgil Garrett gave a short Masonic history of W.Bro. Harris, R. W.Bro. Virgil, W.Bro. Ralph and V.W.Bro. Roscoe Garrett and their busy lives, and asked our District deputy to assist in changing numbers of years accumulated in Masonic service to 220. A sale of honey ($50) was donated to the Crohn's and Colitis Foundation. The Lodge was formally closed by R.W.Bro. Langille, pictures taken and everyone wished a safe journey home.
