Computers for Schools goes international by Jeff Green The Computer Technology and Development Centre (CTDC) of Sharbot Lake High School, a project of the Federal Computers For Schools (CFS) program, has been a great success, and it is now going to be exported. Wayne Tosh, the National Director of CFS received a request for a computer shop to be set up in Nairobi, Kenya, and he forwarded the request to Mark Elliott who runs the CTDC. On December 1 , two CTDC workers, Peter Whan, 21, and Adam Peters, 24, will fly to Nairobi, where they will be living for four months while they set up a Computers for Schools shop. CFS is a program whereby donated used computers are refurbished and given to schools. At the CTDC in Sharbot Lake, both high school students and trainees funded by HRDC grants do the refurbishing, thus gaining valuable technical skills. The Nairobi project will be the first time CFS has been exported, and more international opportunities may follow. Mark Elliott has been approached by a group from Nigeria, and by a group in South America as well.
