Flinton Ole Tyme Fiddlersby Marie WhitemanReport of a successful yearAnother year has come and gone. We had lots of talent throughout the twelve months. Many new visitors joined us with laughter, toes tapping, singing and dancing. Our parties are the third Friday of each month.

Flinton_old_tyme-FiddlersIn February and November, we had the North Gower Club join us with a busload of fine folks, with 15 entertainers for our pleasure. They have visited us three times. April brought a busload from the Oshawa/Whitby Club with their talent (They also have been here before). Thank you for sharing your talent with our regulars. Sorry to hear that the president of the Oshawa Club passed away. Lorna McCarron will be greatly missed. If a busload of folks would like to join us sometime, please let us know. All are welcome.

Muriel Brown crocheted a beautiful lace tablecloth (pineapple pattern) on which we sold tickets. Thank you, Muriel.

We had our dinner and dance on December 21 -turkey, ham and all the trimmings. Our attendance for dinner was 150 (up from 123 last year, so we are growing!) After dinner the Back Roads Country Band from Ardoch entertained us until our regular party started at 8 p.m. Thanks, folks. The Frontenac News joined us for dinner and took pictures--Jeff, Martina, and children. Martina played her violin. She was shy, but did well. Thank you all. Come again.

Flinton_old_tyme-FiddlersJolly Santa arrived at 8:30 and presented me with a beautiful plant and passed out presents from under the tree. Mrs. Claus was unable to travel with him from Ho Ho Boulevard, Belleville, North Pole, as she was expecting a little Ho Ho to arrive any time. Santa brought a replacementhis neighbour, and one elf. He passed out candy canes to all the tables, then the three left on their merry way. He was in a hurry and did not take time to dance with me. Do hope Mrs. Claus and little Ho Ho were doing fine when he arrived home. Congratulations, Santa.

Throughout the evening of fun and dancing, numerous prizes were won. Santas boots and Mrs. Claus mitt were filled with candy. Thanks to Helen Osborne, the evening closed with an abundance of food, buffet style (This we have every monthlots of food and prizes).

Many thanks to committee members who worked so hard all year, preparing the food, donating time, and to all the other fine folks who have helped our club throughout the year. If it were not for you all, we would not be a successful club in Flinton. Our club also made donations. May you have a happy and healthy 2002. See you again at the next party on January 18. Cheerio!
