McDonald's Corners: the biggest little Fair in Lanark Countyby Meghan Balogh From pet shows to potato-sack races to preserves, sheep showing to the ladies shoe-toss, McDonalds Corners Fall Fair provided a fun-filled and entertaining day for the people of Lanark County and surrounding area. There was even a family from Norway attending.
This
was the Fairs 149th year, and a close-knit and relaxed
feeling permeated the grounds throughout all of the activities. The
class judges were friendly, and in at least three classes all
participants walked away with red ribbons. At lunch time, childrens
games took centre stage, followed by the ladies competitions, which
included a nail-driving contest.

Horses of all sizes could be seen across the fairgrounds: spunky miniature horses with frizzy manes, ponies and riding horses, and draft horses with huge dinner-plate hooves. Sheep and poultry noises added another dimension to the busyness in the crisp fall air.
Inside the Hall, displays of baking, sewing, farm and garden produce, maple products and much more provided an enjoyable tour for Fair-goers, and a change of pace from the activity outside. And in the next room, tables were all ready for the turkey dinner to be held that night.
Over all, the Fair was an exciting success. Im sure many people would agree with the motto on Katie the Lambs hat: that McDonalds Corners Fall Fair could very well be the Biggest Little Fair in Lanark County!
