NAEC custodian cleans up $97,000 Lotto 649by Will Cybulski

Jim Wilson works evenings at North Addington Education Centre, where he keeps the school clean as part of his custodial duties. On June 6, one might think that he utilized his skills to the ultimate by cleaning up on a Lotto 649 prize of $97,387. Jim says he has been playing that particular lottery pretty well every week for quite a while, but has never had prior winnings of any great amount. In fact, the ticket which brought home the bacon would be considered by many as a small prize before it became a winner it was a free ticket resulting from a previous play of the game.

Jim and his wife Mary, who live east of Cloyne, travelled to Toronto on Friday past to pick up their cheque from lottery officials. The money will be invested, and Jim will continue on in his work at NAEC, although he did indicate that Mary and their daughter Rose were going clothes shopping this week. Jim obtained his ticket at Cloyne Village Foods, a grocery store and lottery outlet owned by that same daughter Rose and son-in-law Morris McFadden. The McFaddens, as retailers of the winning ticket, will also come away with a nice little windfall, which Rose believed would be 2% of her Dads winnings. Cloyne Village Foods and its owners were highlighted by a Frontenac News feature article in the April 25 issue. On a final note, Jim says he and Mary are taking a trip this summer to visit her brother in Edmonton, Alberta.

Congratulations to the Wilsons and McFaddens on their good fortune! They are both hard-working families within our community.
