Snow Rally fun day

The Mazinaw Powerline Snowmobile Club is presenting a recreational snowmobile event this Saturday as a fundraising event for the club. For a $25 entry fee, riders can ride along club trails between seven rally stops, collecting stamps along the way. Some of the stops include; 41 Stop in Denbigh, the Moosehorn Restaurant, Cloyne Village Foods, and the Northbrook Petro Canada.

To complete the rally only requires collecting four stamps and turning them in at Rally headquarters at the Barrie Township Hall. Then five cards are pulled from a deck of cards and the resulting poker hand is registered. At the end of the day, the top three poker hands will win cash prizes. The total value of the prizes will be determined by the number of riders. Organizers are hoping to attract more than 100 riders this year, and with this weeks snow and seasonal weather forecast for Saturday, a few lucky people are in for a hefty payday on Saturday.

Along with the cash prizes, the Snow Rally Fun Day will include a silent auction and a chance to win a getaway at the Isaiah Tubbs resort in Prince Edward County.

The Mazinaw Powerline Snowmobile club maintains 800 km of groomed snowmobile trails, and all proceeds from the event will be spent on trail grooming equipment and operations.

As part of the Snow Rally, the Cloyne Recreation Association will be working the stoves in the newly renovated Barrie Hall kitchen to provide a reasonably priced ($4) breakfast in the morning and a BBQ chicken dinner ($6) later on in the day.

The Snow Rally runs from 8:30 5:30 and riders are encouraged to take anything from a quick tour (the rally can be completed in as little as an hour or so) or spend the entire day touring the trails. The winners will be picked sometime around 6:00 in the evening.
