Thank you to all of our incredible staff, families, donors, local businesses and community groups, committee, Land O’ Lakes Community Services, and Bon Echo Provincial Park for making this year possible. We had staff and swimmers from near and far with local families, and families travelling from across the province, to learn or work.
This year was a memorable one for numerous reasons. It was another remarkable year for Swim-A-Thon fundraising, with over $14,000 raised to support swimmers in learning water safety. In addition, we piloted adult lessons for the first time. Thank you to our two swimmers for being our first adult participants; Ben, Reed, and myself (Amber) thoroughly enjoyed teaching you. We hope to keep adult lessons around, to encourage swimmers of all ages and levels to participate in learning such a crucial life skill (especially being in an area with so many beautiful lakes!).
Staff last week also completed a fundraising swim to the notorious Walt Whitman memorial on Bon Echo rock and back, alongside the OPP S.A.V.E team. A huge thank you to all involved in promoting water safety! A note: please do not attempt this yourself, all necessary safety precautions, training, and clearance was provided.
Thank you to everyone once again, and we look forward to seeing you again next year. Enjoy the rest of your summer!
