North Frontenac has some of the most southerly exceptional dark skies in Canada. For millions of people in southern Canada and the north-east US, this is the best view of the night sky and the Milky Way that they will most likely experience. The Dark Sky Preserve is a public space with amenities, including parking, washroom, electrical service and the concrete pad, where anyone can set up their telescope and enjoy the dark skies, weather permitting. It is located at 5816 Road 506 (44.91791, -76.93947) just south of Plevna.
Event nights are held at the preserve throughout the season. Experts come out to share their knowledge, and their equipment, with the viewing public.
Check www.northfrontenac.com (under Recreation and Leisure) or our facebook page at www.facebook.com/NFDSP/ for times and details about events and updates to activities at the pad.
