The Sharbot Lake Farmers Market kicks off the long weekend, and unofficial start of summer, with its first Market of the season on Saturday June 28 from 9am to 12 noon on the Sharbot Lake beach. This year marks the fourth season of the post pandemic revival of the Market, which has quickly become the place to be on Saturday mornings. A carefully curated group of vendors, along with local community groups, have created a community hub where you can casually catch up with neighbours and friends while strolling through the Market for your weekly groceries and unique artisanal products. The support of the community has been key to the Market’s success, with both locals and tourists showing up weekly.

Our farmers sell everything from pastured raised meats and seasonal produce to market staples like maple syrup, honey and salad greens. Keep strolling and you will find preserves, pickles, fresh bread and of course coffee and sweet treats, and even smoked rabbit for those looking to try something new. Other vendors provide artisan soaps, hand carved woodcrafts, greeting cards and so much more.

Over the past four years the Market has been also been supported by the local business community. This has allowed for the market to grow by enabling special events and activities, like food tastings, workshops and Farm-to-Table BBQs, which have quickly become a highlight of the market, featuring menus filled with food from local farmers. Farmers markets provide an opportunity to access food outside of the traditional food system and encourage the support of small businesses. And on the cusp of another season the Market is at capacity for vendors which can only mean there will be more food, more shopping, more music and more good times. See you Saturday, on the beach.
