BCLF supports free shoreline naturalization on Bobs and Crow Lakes
Did you know property owners on Bobs and Crow Lakes can naturalize their shorelines for free, thanks to a unique partnership between the Rideau Valley Conservation Authority (RVCA) and the Bobs & Crow Lakes Foundation (BCLF)?
At no cost to you, RVCA staff will visit your property this summer or fall to create a custom planting plan that maintains your views and water access while choosing the right trees, shrubs and plants for your location, soil type and preferences. Staff will then order the materials on your behalf for delivery and installation next spring – all for free!
Naturalizing your shoreline has many benefits: it reduces erosion, keeps pollutants out of the water, reduces algae and weed blooms, discourages geese and creates important wildlife habitat. It’s also a great way to beautify your property and cut down on lawn maintenance.
Top-up grants are also available for Bobs and Crow Lake owners planning shoreline erosion projects, septic improvements or voluntary septic inspections.
