A couple of years ago, after taking place on a scorching early August weekend, organizers of the Verona Car Show decided to move the show to September, partly for the promise of moderate weather and because it may be a better time for some of the car owners to attend.
And the strategy has worked, even though it felt more like August than September last weekend at Verona Lion's Park.
The show was another success this year, to the benefit of the car owners, who come out not only for prizes (of whch there were 21 this year) but to show their cars to an appreciative public. And with extra events now well established at the Verona Car Show, including: the Lion's Canteen, a kids area with a slide, games, and more. Live music this year, sponsored by Revell Ford, featured “Fast Froward to Friday Band”.
Over $7,000 worth of donated door prizes were handed out during the day. The Car Show is nicknamed “Just For Fun” but it has also brought in a serious amount of money for local charities over the years.
Going into this year's event, the car show had raised over $96,000 over 7 years, making it a shoo-in to leap over the $100,000 mark. The 50/50 draw alone, raised almost $1,377.
The show raises about $15,000 per year, on average, and all of that money is donated by the Lion's, to local charitable enterprises, save an amount that is set aside by the Lion's to donate for emergencies that come up in the community from time to time. All of the costs of the car show are covered by sponsors, so the Verona Lions do not keep any of the money that is raised for their own needs as a club.
Mark off your calendar early, the 2025 Verona Car Show, which will be the 30th annual, takes place on Saturday, September 13, 2025.
