Southern Frontenac Community Services Survey

Kathleen Legassick and Jen Maitland are Queen’s University Occupational Therapy students on a community development placement at Southern Frontenac Community Services (SFCS).

During their placement, they are working on a survey aimed at people who are 55 or over, or their caregivers, and live in South Frontenac.

“One of the aims of the survey,” Kathleen Legassick told the News, “is to find out why some older adults in South Frontenac are not accessing SFCS programs and services. We want to know if people are not aware of the services, if they have trouble with access, or if the services are not the ones they need.”

“It is all aimed at helping SFCSC meet the needs of the community.”

The survey is available in three formats. It can be accessed online, at https://tinyurl.com/SFCSC-Survey. It is also available, from the Grace Centre, on paper. Chantel Tyrell of SFCS is also available by phone at 613-376-6477, ext. 302.

The survey is open now, and will be available until at least December 10.

“Our goal is to survey 150 people,” said Legassick, “that will give us the data we need to provide SFCS with information they can use for marketing, and program development, that fits community needs.”

Thus far, about 30 people have been surveyed, and Legassick is hoping to connect with more people over the next two weeks.
