Lots of exciting upcoming events will be happening at the Lions Club in Northbrook. We are very pleased and honoured to support The Lions Foundation of Canada Dog Guides. This organization was established in 1983 and it is the only school in the world that raises and trains dogs to help empower Canadians who have disabilities in seven areas so they can be comfortable and more independent in their everyday lives. The seven areas are: Vision, Hearing, Autism Assistance, Service, Seizure Response, Diabetic Alert and Facility Support.
The Lions Foundation is hoping to build a new school which will facilitate more individuals being paired up with their dog. Presently, the waiting time is approximately 2 years at a cost of $35,000 to breed, train and place a dog. Your help is needed, so come out to the Lions Club of Land O’Lakes in Northbrook on Sunday May 28th for our Dog Guide Walk. Registration starts at 9am. Breakfast will be available. Bring your pup to join in on the walk or come on your own. Prizes will be given to the “best costume”, “best trick” and everyone who participates will be given a certificate... See you there.
Just 6 days later will be the “Grand Opening” of our Farmers Market. This will be our 3rd year offering this to our Community every Saturday until September 2nd. On opening day there will be lots of Vendors, live music, bouncy castle, games for the children and free cupcakes! Our Canteen will be in full swing with baked goods, Eggers, coffee and cold beverages. Come check it out. You'll be pleased with all the changes and additions. Hope to see you Saturday June 3rd 10-1pm.
