Central Frontenac held their second Hazardous Waste Recycling Day on July 25 at the former retail centre at the junction of Hwy. 7 and Road 38. A total of 272 separate vehicles brought waste to the site, an increase of 86 cars over last year when the event was located at the Cole Lake township garage in Hinchinbooke district.
A total of 22,200 litres of liquid hazardous waste, 600 kilograms of solid waste, 143 car batteries, 17 large propane tanks, and 200 camping propane canisters were diverted from the waste stream in fi ve hours. “The day went smoothly and we are very happy with the way it turned out,” said Central Frontenac CAO John Duchene.
