Feature Article - July 31, 2008 Blue Skies quietly hits 35

The Blue Skies Music Festival celebrated its 35th anniversary this past weekend with no public fanfare, and that’s the way festival organizers like it. The publicity shy event, which sells out in advance every year, using a lottery system to dole out tickets, featured a performance by the Whiteley Family on Saturday afternoon in a nod to its origins.
Ken Whiteley was one of the performers at the inaugural festival in 1974. Other performers at the festival this year included the bag pipe led rock band Taxi Chain, Pork Belly Futures with Paul Quarrington and Rebecca Campbell, and cowboy yodeler Petunia.
