The sadness was because Moe Bush, the initiating force behind the 30th anniversary celebration, died suddenly several weeks before the awards ceremony. Moe was represented by her son Wayne.
The 30th Anniversary of NFCS was commemorated with a day-long event in September of 2004 that was attended by many current and former staff members. The three-person organizing team of Moe, Brad and Audrey worked for a year to put the event together.
“I knew this was going to be a difficult day,” said Audrey Tarasick, “but it certainly was a pleasure to work with Moe on the 30th anniversary event, which was a great success.”
Brad Flear spoke for himself and on behalf of Moe Bush’s son Wayne, who accepted the award for his mother. “Moe knew what she wanted to accomplish with the event, as she did with all the events she organised, and for me it was a matter of finding out what I could do to help the process along. It was a privilege to work with her.”
Moe Bush was a long time volunteer and employee of Northern Frontenac Community Services, most notably as the managing editor of this newspaper for several years in the late 1980’s and 1990’s. Moe organized a 30th anniversary celebration of the North Frontenac News in 2001.
