The Lakes and Trails festival is set for Saturday (July 12).
The free event starts at 10am, with a schedule of activities on water and land, using all of the assets of The Point Park.
It is an opportunity to try out a variety of sports and activities, for young and old, with the help of instructors with years, even decades of experience.
At 10am, the beach will be available for swimming, with a lifeguard on hand for added safety. The craft station also opens at that time, for kids, and the Ninja station obstacle course starts up as well.
On the Cat Trail, the Frontenac Run Club is hosting a 5km run/walk, and at the same time Pawsitive Impact is holding a 5km dog jog. A second dog walk/jog takes place at 2:30pm.
Amanda Butterill from Nomad Yogini is hosting a 45 minute yoga/pilates fusion class in the Park, at ten as well.
A bit later (10:30) Gaye Beckwith, birder photographer and long-time Kingston Field Naturalist volunteer, is hosting an id walk along the shore of Sydenham Lake.
At 11, Claire Beach is presenting a taste of Forest Bathing at the Point, followed by a full immersive forest bathing walk at Frontenac Park in the afternoon.
There are two guided bike rides at Lakes and Trails this year, a 6km ride at 11am and a longer 25km ride that starts at 2pm.
The Pickleballers will be on hand. The Kingston Racket club will be demonstrating and promoting the fast growing sport for all ages, from 11am-1pm at the courts.
The Sydenham Canoe Club is presenting guided paddles on the lake at 11am, 1pm, and 3pm, and there will be a canoe skills instruction class at 1:30pm.
Along with the physical activity component to lakes and trails, there is music as well.
It all starts at 11am with Children's musician Pete Moss, followed at 12 noon with Out for a Walk (Pamela White).
Singer-songwriter Jen Calder is up at 1pm, followed by Abbie Louise at 2pm, and Matthew Bazinet at 3pm.
Participants are bound to get hungry. Not to worry, Local food is available, including JP Weirdoughs Pizza, Smoke N Barrel, and everyone's favourite, Snowi Concessions. Not to be outdone, nearby Lenny's Deli has all day breakfast available as well as a Lakes and Trails Cobb Salad and Chopped Sandwich.
Lakes and Trails is organised by South Frontenac Township, with help from a committee of dedicated volunteers.
