Branch 425 (Sharbot Lake) of the Royal Canadian Legion is planning an active calendar of events this fall to encourage remembrance, honour and support our veterans and support our community. Seniors Week will be celebrated with an afternoon of bingo, SALT presentation and dinner on September 9 starting at 1 pm.
The annual Veterans Dinner will be held on Sept 21. This is an opportunity for our members and the community to thank local Veterans for their service. Dinner is free to veterans and one companion. Legion members and the public are invited at $25/person. Please call Branch President Connie McClellan at (613) 583-4244 before Sept 16 to reserve.
Regular Friday night dinners will commence September 26 with menus featuring some new dishes and old favorites. For only $20 you will get a full meal including dessert. Please consider attending, and we are always looking for volunteers for cooking and cleanup! Keep your eyes open for announcements about music events, vendor fairs and dances as well as the meal schedule. Euchre will continue on Wednesdays at pm.
Branch 425 has partnered with the Township of Central to develop street banners to honour and memorialize local Veterans. These will be hung around Sharbot Lake during the Remembrance period this fall, and in other villages as the number increases. Application for banners can be made at the Township office.
Our new Branch Service Officer Bruce Phillips Is ready to help any veteran requiring assistance to access support. He can be reached at 343-553-6627
