As a fundraiser for United Way KFL&A, three teams of South Frontenac employees competed last Friday after, not before, a lunchtime BBQ at the township’s Keeley Road garages. They had to pull a 35,000-pound Fire Truck for 50 feet. The Public Services “All Back, No Legs” team won, hauling the huge truck across the line in 11.28 seconds. South Frontenac Fire and Rescue came in a close second, at 13.18 seconds. The surprise was the office workers’ “Paper Pushers” team, who, in spite of showing none of the style and coordination of the previous two teams, somehow managed to drag the massive truck across the finish line only five seconds behind Fire and Rescue (13.23 seconds)!
The noon hour BBQ and fun raised $1,100 for United Way.
