The 29th annual Battersea Pumpkin festival is set for this weekend. Parking is available at Storrington Public School, followed by a shuttle, or at the Battersea Ball Field.
There is a charge to attend the festival, but at $5 per person ($20 per family) it is a nominal fee.
The festival has a relaxed vibe throughout the day, but there is one deadline, the parade through the village starts at 9:45 sharp.
Many of the other features of the festival are ongoing throughout the day, including music by King of the Swingers and Teilhard Frost, Viking Warriors of Mercy and Campfire Competent, and the best food vendors from across the region, including Barb’s Pierogies, Cheesecakery Bakery and More Smoke. But save room for pie at Battersea United Church.
Also at the ballfield, games will be set up, pumpkin carving and the Not So Amateur Amateur’s will be facepainting. The model train will be available all day, as well as the corn maze, Bruce the Pumpkin Carver and the ever-popular vendor’s market. Oh, and the eaters in the crowd will want to sign up for the pie eating contest.
An added feature this year is the Wild Art Walk at the Milford Creek Trail. The entire walk, which went up on October 1st and runs to the 21st, runs through the entire 3.1 km trail, but there is also a concentrated Pumpkin Festival specific walk that is accessed from the trail entrance across from the ballpark.
Next year is the big 3-0 for the Battersea Pumpkin Festival, and festival organisers are already planning a special event.
But don’t miss this year’s 29th annual.
