Mayor, Ron Vandewal invites you to join him on Friday May 18th at 1:00 P.M. to bury some of our Township’s History.
As part of our local initiatives in 2017 to mark Canada’s 150th, the Township collected numerous items from the Community to place in a time capsule. Now that the ground has thawed, it is time for the capsule to be buried at Centennial Park in Harrowsmith with hopes that it will be unearthed in 50 years to mark Canada 200.
The stainless steel time capsule constructed by D. Martin Welding is full of items such as photographs, newspaper clippings, aerial photographs of our area schools with the students, local sports memorabilia and many more items. Mayor Vandewal even included a copy of his 2017 property tax bill. The capsule will be covered with a large stone that will feature a plaque to commemorate the project.
Mayor Vandewal says, “The Township thanks all of those that contributed items to be placed in the time capsule.” “This is an exciting project that will provide our kids and grandkids a glimpse into South Frontenac’s past.” added Vandewal.
