Are you a budding artist, or someone who likes to play in the woods?  Why not consider joining a keen group of local folks participating in the 3rd Annual Wild Art Walk in Battersea this October? Hundreds of people walk the trail to see the art in October.  It's a great way to get out into nature and enjoy the fall colours! All South Frontenac residents are invited to participate.  You do not need to be a professional! The Art Walk is on the 3 km Milburn Trail, a Nature Conservancy property in the heart of Battersea.  Artists can choose from a one day display during the Pumpkin Festival on October 4th, or, if their piece can withstand the weather, they can have it in place for the month of October. The Denbigh Griffith Lions Club is starting Darts as new event on Thursday September 18 at the Lions Hall in Griffith. It will be a women and men mixed league with a $5.00 weekly fee.  Come and have some fun and meet new friends.  For registration call Maurice at 343-943-7676

Make some plans for a couple Denbigh Recreation Committee events in the next few months, including an ATV Poker Run at Heritage Park on October 4, 2025.  Pre-registration at Rosie’s on Friday October 3 from 4:30 until 6:00 pm.  On October 4th, registration will be from 9:00 to 11:00 a.m.  Hands cost $10.00.  Coffee and Donuts in the morning at the Rink building and Hamburgers and Hot Dogs along the trail.   And on October 25 there will be a Halloween Children’s Dance during the day and an Adult Dance that evening.

The Vennachar Free Methodist Church has two upcoming activities.  Ladies are welcome to join in for Bible study starting on Monday September 8 at 10:00 a.m.; they will be following Jim Cymbala’s video series ‘The Believer’.  Adults are also invited to play Cornhole on Friday September 19 at 6:30 p.m.  Please preregister with Pastor Laurie at 613-920-7620.

It was just like the good old days when Rebecca Kelsey- Miiller of Estavan Saskatchewan returned home to visit and we waved away at one another on the road. Rebecca and her brother Mitchell and family enjoyed fishing, golfing, visiting and cruising. We love you all to pieces.

Our Henderson United Church is now gearing up for our Vendor Bash on Sat Oct 4 that features many vendors, bucket draw, live music, grab ‘n go lunch, bake sale, draws, and lots of visiting. If it rains we’ll hold it the next day Sun. Oct. 5 after church from 10:00- 2:00 PM. Folks are inviting loved ones from away- to come home and attend the event and visit up a storm with all the people. Bring your lawn chair and your appetite and have a blast while sparing your septic system!! We’ve also had some secret sign makers getting the word out- yahoo!!

Duck season is around the corner and I know we can count on folks to respect the fence lines, property lines, and to also hunt in a safe and moderate style.

First Bob’s Breakfast Buffet for the new season  welcomed 134 guests.  Huge thanks to Sun Harvest Greenhouses for the fresh tomatoes, Bryce Burns & Bernie Robinson for the maple syrup and donations from Susan Creasy Financial, Ila Lawton and Jack Blacklock Used Cars LTD. Looking forward to the next breakfast – always the first Saturday of the month at Inverary Church hall from 7:30 to 10:00 am.  Next Breakfast on October 4th!

Thank You from Inverary United Church to the support from community members, Susan Creasy Financial, the Storrington Lions Club and a grant from the South Frontenac Township who, all together, made it possible to purchase and install a new commercial dishwasher in the church hall!  It had its first workout with Bob’s Breakfast last Saturday and “worked like a charm”!

Bottle Drive supporting the Storrington Lions Club now until October 25th.  Donate your LCBO cans and bottles.  Clearing out a garage or cottage – let us make your return of “empties” easy!  and at the same time you are supporting the Lions Club who give back to the community in so many ways!  Drop off in the trailer at 3950 Round Lake Road!  Cans, bottles & wine bags!

There is no ATM on site. Proceeds from the sale of homemade treats and sandwiches are donated to Brooke Valley School.

The Perth and District Historical Society September 18, 2025 Meeting:  The Perth Museum Marks Its 100th Anniversary – 7:30 pm - Royal Canadian Legion, Perth-Upon-Tay, Branch 244, home of the Hall of Remembrance, 26 Beckwith St. E. in Perth. Saturday September 20, 2025 at ABC Hall, 3166 Bolingbroke Road - A benefit concert in support of Willow Creek Stables; a rescue sanctuary located in Perth for 23 critically endangered Newfoundland Ponies who have been abandoned, neglected and/or abused. Jebb’s Creek Collective will be playing your favourite hits from the past. Tickets are $20 if purchased in advance, or $25 at the door if they are not sold out. Doors open at 6:30 pm and music starts at 7 pm.   Willow Creek Stables is a not-for-profit rescue organization. Please visit their willowcreekstables.ca to read more about the farm and it’s mission. All of the stables, camps, and other public onsite activities which help to cover the much needed costs in caring for these endangered ponies were halted last month, while Korrine Jordon the stable’s owner goes through cancer treatment. All monies paid and donations collected at the Jebb’s Creek Collective “Benefit Concert”, will go directly to helping pay for the ongoing costs of running this wonderful, well known and well-loved local animal rescue. Saturday September 20, 2025 at Forest Trail Park, 4337 Narrows Lock Road. (rain date Sep.27) Mindfulness for Body and Earth Workshop. Join Tay Valley Township and instructor Jill Dunkley on this journey of self-discovery where inner nature connects with outer nature. 9 am to 12 pm. You must register for this at Tay Valley’s website so they know how many people to expect. The program is designed for ages 18 years and over with gentle movement included in the practice. Ompah Coffee Club: Every Wednesday morning (except the first Wednesday of the month when we host the Community Café) from 10am until noon.  Bring $2, and join us for coffee/tea, and treats as we enjoy lively conversation, and a chance to connect with our neighbours and friends. Everyone is welcome.

Our September Birthday Bash/Potluck is on Wednesday, Sept. 17th, at 6pm.  Please join us as we enjoy a fun meal together and celebrate those with September birthdays or anniversaries.  Bring a $2, and a dish to share.

North Frontenac Back Roads Studio Tour: September 27 & 28, 10am to 4pm, featuring original handmade arts and crafts created by local artisans, at 20 locations in the Township. Pick up a Tour Brochure inside the Ompah Hall Entrance.

Drop by the Ompah Library on Wednesday’s and Saturday’s from 10am to 12 noon.  Our library has a wide selection of books, DVDs, and other items.  We also have some free books and puzzles available inside the Hall entrance.

The Ompah Community Cupboard fridge in the foyer of the Community Centre has many types of canned goods, fruits and vegetables. This month we also have some garden vegetables such as fresh squash. Feel free to come and take what you can use, but please remember to leave items for the next person. The Ompah Community Centre provides food items to keep the fridge well stocked.  Thank you to the community members who also donate items to our community fridge

Thank you to everyone who came out to support the First Sunday of the Month Under the Rink Vendor Market in Sharbot Lake this summer.  With the vendor fees collected we were able to give back to our community including the Parham United Church, the OSO Rec Committee, and the Food Bank to name a few!!  What a great way to support those that support us!

Does your dog need a nail trimming? Amanda from First Class Nail Trimming, our trusty mobile groomer, is returning to the Ardoch/Plevna area on September 21, 2025. 

If you want to get your pets' nails trimmed. She needs a few confirmed appointments to make the trip worthwhile. Amanda is offering a wide range of services, including nail trims, feet or face trims, mat removals, and ear cleaning.

Snow Road

Saturday, September 6th was National Hummingbird Day.  Many of us have enjoyed these little hummers at our feeders over the past few months and their imminent departure is another sign of the changing season.  Although they are leaving, please keep your feeders filled for those birds that are enroute and need a refill of their energy along their journey.

The Annual General Meeting of the Snow Road Community Association is scheduled for September 24th at 7:00 p.m.  New members are always welcome.   

A new activity called Culture Days includes several presentations at the end of the month.  Check  www.snowroadcommunitycentre.com for specifics.

Women's Social will be held Tuesday, September 16th at Verona Free Methodist Church at 12:30 pm. Dana Salsbury of the Kingston Frontenac Public Library will be demonstrating a3D Printer available through KFPL. 3D Printers can be used to make many assist devices to aid in activities of daily living. Our goal going forward will be to develop a plan to access the printer to make these tools available in our area. Lunch is by donation.
