April 26th - Ham Dinner at Arden legion @ 5pm. Tickets are $15 available at The Legion. Includes; ham, mashed potatoes, scallop potatoes, gravy, buttered carrots, caraway cabbage and rolls. Of course, pie for dessert. 

May 3rd - Dart Tournament at Arden Legion, Branch 334 (5967 Arden Road). This is a Mixed Doubles Tourney hosted by Arden Ladies Auxiliary.  This is a tribute tournament to Robert (Fish) Millar and in memory of Sam Karagiozov and Doug Scott, past members who contributed so much to the Arden Legion Branch 334.  Registration from 8:45am to 9:45am. Darts will fly at 10am. The cost is $10.00 per person to play. Payout will be the top 2 or 4 teams, depending on the numbers of teams. Youth are welcome to team up with an adult for the Tournament.  Please sign up with your team on our sign-up sheet posted at the Bar. Maximum people that can play is 52 (26 teams). Cloyne Recreation Club, The Alzheimer Society & Pine Meadow Nursing Home hosted a spectacular Easter Egg hunt extravaganza in Northbrook. Hundreds of excited kids, families, Pine Meadow residents & volunteers came together to enjoy crafts, candy,

donated prizes, fresh Spring air & pictures with the Easter Bunny. Small towns, huge hearts! Thank You Shelby Kramp-Neuman MP for joining us at Pine Meadow Nursing Home today.

The Garden Club invites you on April 26^th to the – 2^nd Annual Pitch in for Mother Earth (PI4ME) day – 9am – 1pm, at the Barrie Hall in Cloyne.  This is the day the Land O’ Lakes Garden Club together with their partners the Lions of Land O’ Lakes invites the community to come out and help them clean up the litter that has accumulated on our roadsides and ditches. At the end of the event, we will have hot dogs and drinks at the Barrie Hall to thank all for Pitching in for Mother Earth.

The Denbigh Recreation Committee Spring ATV Poker Run is Saturday April 26, with registration at Heritage Park from 9 to 11am.  Coffee, tea, muffins and donuts will be available during registration and hamburgers and hotdogs will be available for purchase along the trail.  Cost per hand is $10.00 with prizes for the top three hands.  There will pre-registration on Friday April 25 from 4:40 to 6pm at Rosies in Denbigh.

The Denbigh Griffith Lions Club ‘Spring For Hope’ Tea is on Sunday, April 27 from 1pm until 3pm at the Denbigh Griffith Lions Hall in Griffith.  All proceeds will be going to Childhood Cancer.  Luncheon and tea is $10. The Denbigh Recreation Committee Mother’s Day Tea is Saturday, May 10, 2025 from 1 to 3pm at the Denbigh Hall 222 Hwy 28. Enjoy a selection of sandwiches, desserts and a cup of tea or coffee.  Prizes for the fanciest hat or fascinator and best dressed.  Donation at the door.  Everyone is invited.

Your Frontenac ATV Club Trail Wardens have all now completed their Rescue First Aid, CPR & AED Training. Congratulations on your certifications. The AED unit will be in the machine with the orange flag. They are on the trail for all users. I hope you never have to use any of it."

Do you know that at Ewe Can Knit, there are craft groups on Thursday from 10am to noon?! Please feel free to bring any craft to work on. The Frontenac Women's Choir will perform for the Love of Song on May 10th at 7pm at the Verona Free Methodist Church, 6804 Road 38, Verona. Admission is by donation, plus an item for the food bank.

Local vocalist and instrumentalist Christopher Hall & accompanist John Hall will perform at the Trinity United Church, 6689 Road 38, Verona, on April 27th, at 10am.

Easter came to us in such spectacularly spiritual ways - with folks from away visiting, area churches offering uplifting musical messages of hope, and all the while we experienced both warm weather and warm welcomes.  The budding lilacs are bringing us hope after a long long winter. The pot holes promote curvaceous driving for sure, but we thank our municipal folks who are doing their level best to level out the pot holes.

Our Pine Meadow people, having hosted a super duper residents spa day are planning their annual yard sale on Sat. May 3, so it will be a fun time to once again get on the yard sale circuit with visiting, shopping and helping.

Congratulations to Basil and Ella Arney who recently celebrated their 56th wedding anniversary.

Deepest sympathy to the family of the late Gene Hamilton of our village, who died this past week. We will miss the red truck driving by and all the roadside waves/visits.

Food Bank!  Friday May 2^nd  Bring your donations to the Storrington Lion’s Hall between 1 and 5pm.  Items needed are: frozen meat of any type, cheese, margarine, eggs, coffee, shampoo, ketchup, mayo, BBQ sauce, crackers and cooking oil.  Cash donations accepted.

Bob’s Breakfast Buffet on Saturday, May 3^rd  from 7 to 10am.  Eggs, Bacon, Sausage, Pancakes with local maple syrup, juice, tea & coffee – all yours for $10.  Children 12 to 5 $5 under 5 free.  Volunteers serve tea, coffee and juice at your table. The Ompah Community Cupboard fridge in the foyer of the Community Centre has many types of canned goods, fruits and vegetables. The Ompah Community Centre Association is purchasing milk, bread, fruit and veggies to add to the offerings.  Feel free to come and take what you can use, but please remember to leave items for the next person. The community fridge has been a great success.  The use of the Cupboard is intended for everyone in the community.

This Saturday, April 26^th there will be a vendor event at the Frontenac Community Arena from 10 to 2pm - lots of great local vendors will be on site with something for everyone!  The Parham Youth Program will be having a canteen available with a chili lunch.  Be sure to stop by and support District #4 Recreation Committee in this event.

Touch A Truck on April 30^th from 5 to 7:30pm at the Parham Ball Field.  There will be a bbq and donations will be accepted to the North and Central Frontenac Food Bank - there will also be a kids zones so bring out the kids for a wonderful event!!

You need JavaScript enabled to view it. to enter in a team.  This is to support the grade 7 and 8's at Ernestown Intermediate Secondary School.  There will be a bake sale and raffle table as well!  I had a phone call from Ian Drummond on the weekend who is an umpire and he has rounded up some of this umpire friends who have graciously offered to provide their services for this fundraising effort.  So we send out a huge shoutout to Ian and gang for volunteering their time!!  That is amazing!  So be sure to get your team registered as the day will be here before we know it.

Also on May 3^rd  ... Sharbot Lake Legion - Saturday May 3rd - 2-5 pm. Spring Music Series continues featuring the T.O.G.s for a matinee performance. $10 at the door. Cash bar. 

May 4^th is the first day of many summer markets at the outdoor rink in Sharbot Lake - lots of wonderful vendors will be on hand from 10am to 2pm for your shopping needs.  The canteen will be operated by District #3 Recreation Committee and each market will have church, foodbank and local charity donations.  

Then on May 10^th there will be a Vendor Event at the Parham Ball Field from 10am to 2pm sponsored by District #4 Recreation Committee.  Come on out and shop the locals who will have a variety of items for sale.  Even better if you have items that you want to sell contact Christine at This email address is being protected from spambots. Clarendon Central Public School would like to thank everybody that came out to their spaghetti supper and silent auction last Thursday night and to everybody that donated items and helped out!! It was a terrific turnout and the school  really appreciated all of the community's support!! I was told it was a super fun night enjoyed by all!! 

St Kilian's Catholic Church would also like to send big thank yous to everybody that came out and supported their Easter egg hunt and luncheon and bake sale!!! It was another tremendous success! What a wonderful community we live in!!

Snow Road

Thanks to the one hundred and seventy people who came out to the final breakfast of the season at the snowmobile club.  A total of $2,232.60 was raised for Melanoma Awareness.   

This weekend promises to be filled with live music.  On Saturday, April 26^th at 7pm the 'Goodnight Irenes' will be performing at the Snow Road Community Centre.  This group features Jon McLurg, Chris Morris and Ed Paquette – and with 1 fiddle, 2 guitars and 3 singers, they are ready and set to go providing a mix of traditional folk, blues, classic country, bluegrass, Western swing, Cajun music and fiddling tunes.  Something for everyone so get your tickets by e-mailing This email address is being protected from spambots. I think it's safe to say spring is winning the seasonal battle now. Hope everyone has been able to tidy up their ice storm mess and can get back to normal spring chores. Budding trees, spring sounds... All coming to life.

It's that time of year again! April 18 - 25 is 'Pitch in South Frontenac' to mark Earth Day on April 22. You can pick up your free biodegradable 'pitch-in' bags from local retailers who sell our garbage bag tags or from any of our office locations (Monday-Friday, 8am - 4:30pm). Thanks for the community support in cleaning up our messes left behind. Perhaps now is a good time to rethink tossing that empty Timmies cup out the window or that chocolate bar wrapper.

Wow... The Sydenham Legion was a happening place this past weekend. Saturday evening The Trevor Walsh Group filled the place. Sunday was an amazing afternoon of country classics with Jeff Code and Silver Wings Band. The local support our Legion is gaining is very nice to see. Stop in sometime and consider joining our local branch.

May 3rd is the Spring Fling dance at the Sydenham Legion. Still Standin' will be entertaining. Tickets won't last long for this show. $10 and available at Sydenham One Stop and downstairs at the Legion.

May 31st The Ladies Auxiliary is hosting their annual Chinese Auction. Tickets are $25 and selling fast. Dinner will be Chinese food and of course quarter auction fun to be had as well. Grab your tickets now.

Join our neighbouring village of Harrowsmith at Centennial park for some live, local music at the Summer Kickoff Music Festival! Saturday, May 24th The event is a true celebration of local talent and artistry, bringing together masters of their craft in the music, food, and drink industries here in South Frontenac. The event will run from 2pm to 9pm and is free to attend, thanks to the generous support of local sponsors, including our presenting partner Boulton Septic. Donations will be greatly accepted at the gate to support next year’s festival. The festival will feature a full line-up of live music from some of the region’s top performers, including Wendy Lynn Snider, Crossing Boarders, The Trevor Walsh Group, Rev It Up, River Cats, and Dean James. Headliner Abby Stewart, the 23-year-old country music singer/songwriter, will start her hour-long set at 8pm. In addition to live music, the festival will include a Kids’ Zone, which will be open throughout the event, as well as a variety of local food, drink, and artisan vendors. Music Sunday:  Sunday, April 27 will be a special Music Sunday service in the church sanctuary at Trinity United Church at 10am.  This service will include a concert performance by instrumentalist and vocalist Christopher Hall.

Enjoy a Community Breakfast supporting Minor League Softball in Verona. Saturday, May 3 from 8:30 to 11am at the Verona Lions Club. Breakfast by donation. All proceeds go towards upgrading the Lions baseball diamond.

Choir Concert:  The Frontenac Women’s Chorus are presenting For the Love of Song.  Saturday, May 10th at 7pm at the Verona Free Methodist Church .  Admission is by freewill donation, and a food item for the food bank.

Mother's Day Verona Fish Fry will be held May 10 from 4:30 to 6pm at the Verona Lions Club. The meal includes Haddock filets, fries, coleslaw, homemade pie, coffee and tea / cash bar also available.  Advanced tickets required . Sold at Verona Rona Hardware and veronalions.ca  Adults  $20, 7 to 12  $10, 6 and under free.

Verona Lions will hold their Annual Voluntary Road Toll on May 15, 16 and 17. The Lions thank you in advance.
