On Friday July 4, doing what he loved, Caleb left us. While his time with us was short, Caleb didn’t waste it - whether it was time spent outdoors duck hunting and fishing, riding ATVs with his friends, enjoying good food and music, or watching Disney movies, he lived his best life.  A wild child from the start, Caleb was always an original. This MAY have been influenced by his first five years of being raised by a wild group of friends - his Mom and Aunts - Amanda Clow, Shawna Finn, Kristen Finn, Ashley Finn, Missy Gilfillen, Tabby Hartwick, and Jenette Hickey. Caleb never pretended to be someone he wasn’t, and if somebody didn’t like that, he didn’t care one bit!

But care he did, for so many. Caleb is survived by a family that he held close – his mother, Tara Hartwick, father Matthew Doel, his grandparents, Wendy & Lloyd Hartwick, Patty & Larry Babcock, Liz & Dan Doel, as well as his great-grandparents, Barbara Dawson & Allen Thompson. In his large family, Caleb will be missed by many aunts and uncles he cared for so much, especially Uncle Kurt Hartwick, Uncle Jeff Herold, and the rest of the McLeans Hunting Camp HH gang. He is pre-deceased by his first father, Jason Thompson. Many kids looked up to Caleb. While he grumbled sometimes, they saw right through it for the softie he really was. His guidance and support will be missed by his siblings, Cameron, Carter, Jonathan, Emma, & Felicia, as well as cousins Damien, Harmony, and many others. Everyone will miss his hugs. Caleb gave the BEST hugs.

To his friends, Caleb was supportive and had a big heart. When things got tough, he saw the light at the end of the tunnel, and it would have been his wish for them to see that light at the end of this one too. While we’ll never know how his life should have turned out, we will remember the Caleb we had – a funny, smart, genuine, and sweet guy – even if he could be a stubborn ass sometimes! He will live on in our memories, our laughter, and the wind in our hair on a beautiful day. Caleb, who would give you anything he had, was also an organ donor, and many families will be able to create new memories because of him. We would like to thank everyone who has connected and sent messages and prayers. We are so grateful to see how many people cared about him. Our appreciation also goes to everyone that tried to save Caleb – the first responders in Central Frontenac, as well as the nurses and doctors in the ICU at KGH.

Be who you are, love the people that matter, and live your best life.

The family will receive friends at Milestone Funeral Homes - Parham on Saturday, August 16, 2025, from 11-1pm. A Celebration of life Service to follow in the Chapel at 1:00pm.
