It is with deep sadness that the family of Wilma Kearns announces her passing on Thursday, January 9, 2025, at the age of 94 years. Wilma has been reunited with her beloved husband, Clair, after 53 years of marriage. She will be sadly missed and fondly remembered by her many nieces and nephews, family, and friends.
Born in Sharbot Lake in 1930, Wilma met and married Clair in 1953. While they lived in Kingston, they never truly left the lake that held a special place in their hearts. Wilma’s career began at RMC, followed by many years at the Douglas Library at Queen’s University, where she worked with dedication and kindness.
Together, Wilma and Clair traveled to many places around the world, but they were always happiest at their beloved cottage on Crow Lake. There, they enjoyed many cherished moments with family and friends, especially playing euchre and co-hosting family gatherings alongside Ethel and Don.
Wilma was a beloved sister to Ruth Bedford (late George). She was predeceased by her parents, Edward and Florence (Davy) Gordon, as well as her siblings: Ted Gordon (late Thelma), Roy Gordon (late Edith, late Nettie), Elda Garrett (late Ralph), Ethel Kane (late Don), Janet Johnston (late Cliff), and Pearl Robinson (late John).
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday, January 18, 2025, at 11:00 a.m. at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church, 392 Palace Road, Kingston, ON.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to St. Joseph’s Church or the University Hospitals Kingston Foundation (KGH).
Online memories and tributes can be shared at www.GFTompkins-Township.ca.
