Passed away after a long courageous battle with cancer at the Ruddy-Shenkman Hospice Care Home, Kanata on Sunday, September 22, 2024, in his 78th year. Beloved husband of Elaine Thompson (Babcock). Cherished father of Leanne Callery (Jason). Proud grandfather of Emily and Bayden Callery. Son of the late Dorald and Alma Thompson of Northbrook. Pre-deceased by his sisters Rachel Cooper (Vince), Wilhelmina Biggs (Alan) and brother Bearl. Beloved brother of Nancy Roy (Jack) and sister-in-law Monique. Fondly remembered by nieces, nephews, friends and extended family. Vern participated in a Celebration of a Life Well Lived, held in his honour in Carleton Place. Cremation has been entrusted to Milestone Funeral Centre. A private burial will be held at Northbrook Cemetery at a later date. Memorial donations may be made in Vern’s memory to the Ruddy- Shenkman Hospice Care Home or the food bank of your choice.
