Passed away peacefully at the age of 86 on Tuesday September 3, 2024, at Providence Manor Long Term Care Home in Kingston. With her when she passed was her daughter Joanne, brother Stanley and sister-in-law Elizabeth. Pre-deceased by her devoted husband Glenn Hartman. Cherished mother of Jim Hartman (Rosemarie) and Joanne Hartman. Loving Grandmother of Glenn Cashin (Nathalia). Rebecca was the eldest daughter of Carl and Esther Platz. Dear sister of Phillip Platz (late Gladys), Kenneth Platz (late Molly), Carleen Jackson (late Delbert), and Stanley Platz (Elizabeth). Predeceased by sisters Gertrude Stein (late Verner), June Jackson (late Gordon), brother Cameron Platz, and sister-in-law June Antuna (late Joseph). Rebecca will be missed by her many nieces and nephews.
On Monday September 30th Rebecca will at long last return to her beloved home of Denbigh to be laid to rest. A funeral service will be held at St. Luke’s United Church at 11 am, ending with interment at St. Luke’s cemetery. Reception to follow at Denbigh Community Hall. All are welcome to attend.
Donations in memory of Rebecca can be made to St. Luke’s United Church. Rebecca dedicated much of her life to serving her church. She played the organ for 60 years, served on many committees, and like the other ladies in Denbigh, made many pies, squares and loaves of sandwiches for church events. She loved her church!
