Lucy Spain, 81, of Godfrey, Ontario died after a prolonged illness on February 13, 2024.
Lucy was born in Akron, Ohio in 1942 to Louis and Elaine Lods. She was an Army BRAT and lived in many places across the United States and Germany. Lucy met and married her husband, William in 1962 in Schofield Barracks, Hawaii where he was stationed with the U.S. Army. They had three daughters, Carolyn, Abigail, and Jennifer. Lucy was a proud grandmother to Catherine, Jessica, Leslie, William, Alexander, and Gordon. She had also recently become a greatgrandmother to Samuel.
Lucy was known as a passionate community supporter and many oranganzitions, from the Newfoundland Pony Society in 1980s to the United Church in more recent times, benefitted from her leadership and dedication.
Lucy loved her family, nature, crafting, and animals. She will be missed by her most recent beloved pet, Henry the cat.
No service by her request. A celebration of life will be held in the coming months. If desired, please consider donations in her memory to the SPCA.
