Liane passed away peacefully after a steady decline in health after the death of her beloved husband Don of almost 70 years. She is survived by her daughters Carolyn Mitrow and Mary-Ellen Connolly (Paul) and her grandchildren Alexandra and Nicholas Leroux.

Born in Montreal, Quebec, Liane spent her childhood years in the Westmount area of Montreal and on Ile Cadieux, just outside of Vaudreuil, Quebec. She studied to become a Lab Technician at the MacDonald College campus of McGill. Soon after graduating, she met the love of her life Don, who swept her off of her feet and married her shortly after her 21st birthday. They then moved to Don’s Canadian Air Force postings in Trenton, Winnipeg, Colorado Springs and finally settled in Aylmer, Quebec.

Liane was a dedicated volunteer, starting with her years as a Trail Rider, a volunteer group of skiers who had been maintaining and patrolling the crosscountry ski trails in the Gatineau Park. Then, in 1987 when they moved to their dream home at Little Long Lake near Sydenham,Ontario, she volunteered in the ICU of the Kingston General Hospital for 27 years.

She had a long career as a bookkeeper, starting with Don’s business Leisure Loft, then at Otto’s car dealership, as well as for Don’s extensive art career.

Liane will always be remembered as a wonderful mom and grandmother, a great travel coordinator and the hostess with the mostest; boy could she pull off a great meal.

A celebration of Liane’s life will be held on Saturday, March 2, 2024. The memorial service will be at 1 pm followed by a reception from 1:30 3:30 p.m at Hulse, Playfair & McGarry Funeral Home, 315 McLeod St., Ottawa, ON.

In lieu of flowers please make a donation in her memory to La Maison des Collines in Wakefield, Quebec, where both Liane and Don were able to pass away peacefully. It is a charity based on funding and the family could not thank them enough for their care.
