Kane, Ethel (nee Gordon)

Peacefully passed away at Providence Transitional Care Centre on Monday, January 22, 2024, in her 92nd year. Loving Mother, Grandma, Sister, Aunt, Teacher, and Friend has been reunited with her beloved husband of ~50 years Donald Kane. Ethel was born in Sharbot Lake in 1932 and loved spending time at her “happy place” on Crow Lake especially hosting her extended family for Thanksgiving & reunions. Ethel’s kind smile and caring support will be missed by all who knew her. As a primary grade teacher for over 40 years “Mrs. Kane” was known for her genuine and unparalleled love for each and every student that she taught. From the one room Bradshaw School to many Kingston Public Schools her positive impact has been profound. Ethel was also a very active member of the St. Luke’s Anglican Parish and Folk Choir. In her spare time, she loved to bake and play euchre but her favourite pastime was watching her cherished Grand Kids perform and compete. Loving mother to Kenneth Kane, Douglas Kane (Carol) and Mary Lou Sarazin (Jason) and wonderful Grandmother to Courtney, Jenna (Shania) and Alyssa Kane & Andrew and Alexander Sarazin. Beloved sister of Wilma Kearns (late Clair) and Ruth Bedford (late George). Ethel was predeceased by her parents Edward and Florence Gordon, as well as her siblings Ted (late Thelma) Gordon, Roy (late Edith, late Nettie) Gordon, Elda Garrett (late Ralph), Janet Johnston (late Cliff) and Pearl Robinson (late John).

Resting at the JAMES REID FUNERAL HOME, on John Counter Blvd at Highway 2. Friends will be received on Friday, February 9th from 2-4pm and 6-8pm. Funeral service at St. Luke’s Anglican Church (236 Nelson Street, Kingston) on Saturday, February 10th, 2024, at 1:00 pm with a reception to follow in the church hall. The family would like to thank the nurses and staff at Providence Care for their compassion and care. As expressions of sympathy, donations may be made to St. Luke’s Anglican Church, Kingston or St. Andrews Anglican Church, Sharbot Lake in Ethel’s memory.
