The family of Donald Levi Van Alstine of Maberly are very saddened to announce another branch of their tree has fallen with his passing on October 11, 2023 at the age of 90 years.
Born 27 September 1933 he was the loving husband of 68 years to Josephine Larmon. Loving father to Earl (Dayle), Rosetta, Anne (Late Walter), Joan (Keith), Gail and David (Laura). Adored by 12 grandchildren, Jessamyn, Robyn (Sean), William, Donald (Dayna), Adam (Alyshia), Joey (Megan), Amber, Shane (Diana) Ryan, Jenna, Matthew (Emily), Amanda (Jason).and 16 great grandchildren.
Predeceased by his parents Donald Sr. and Rosetta Brown and stepmother Jean Allan. His sisters Violet, Shirley and brothers Gordon, Ken and Harold. Predeceased also by his sister-inlaws Rita, Sandy, Marjorie, Margaret, Shirley and brother inlaws, Floyd, Victor, Bill, Gordon and Harold.
Greatly missed by his sisters Irene (Wayne) and Bonnie (Earl), brothers, Cliff (Alice), Art (late Rita), Bud (late Sandy), Ernie (Joyce) and sisters inlaw, Opal, Vivian, Joyce, and Ruth.
Donald was born, raised and lived his entire life on the farm. He farmed, sold firewood, was a maple syrup producer and founder of the band “Country 5” where he excelled at his skill as a fiddle player.
His funeral was held at Blair and sons Oct. 17th and he is laid to rest at Laidley Cemetary in Maberly, Ont.
