April 18, 1938 - December 14, 2022
It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Sandra (Sandy) Wickware on December 14, 2022 at the Pine Meadow Nursing Home in Northbrook, ON.
Sandy passed peacefully and is now in the company of her father and mother, Harold and Mae Wickware (Cloyne); her sister Jackie Philp (nee Wickware, Toronto); Nephew Greg Philp (Toronto) and her long time companions Louise James (Cloyne) and R.J.Vermeulen (Cloyne).
Sandy worked for 20 years at IBM in Toronto before moving to Cloyne where she and Lou bought the Mountain Aire restaurant and ran it for many years. Sandy also worked in the Barrie Township Office for several years as well. In her retirement, Sandy kept active assisting nurses Louise and RJ, driving to all parts of the countryside whenever required. She may also be remembered for hosting the odd party here and there.
Always a character, Sandy, when asked “How are you doing?” would most often reply “If I was any better, I’d cancel me OHIP!”
She will be greatly missed and lovingly remembered by family and friends.
A Memorial Gathering will be held at Land O’Lakes Emmanuel United Church, 108 Addington Road #2, Northbrook on Saturday, June 24, 2023 from 2-4pm. Services entrusted to Rushnell Funeral Home, Tweed (613-478-3535).
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to The Canadian Cancer Society, The Alzheimer Society of Canada or the charity of choice.
