I often reflect that I might have married had I found a man with the qualities of my air-source heat pump.
Low maintenance – gets the work done without asking for praise.
Steady – keeps the temperature within a half a degree, no blowing hot one minute, then cold the next.
Flexible in changing circumstances - flips from heating to cooling at the touch of a dial, just what you need during a heat wave or menopause.
Ready with a back-up plan – adds auxiliary heat on the rare occasion the thermometer dips below -30C.
Costs the price of a single ticket - why pay for a tank and fuel delivery when you are already paying for electricity delivery?
No need to negotiate, worry about tank levels, timely fuel delivery, lane plowing, global energy markets or geopolitics; if there is electricity, there is heat (or air conditioning).
No need to understand how or why it works; it just does.
So, ladies, if your furnace is getting old and you are thinking of replacing it, consider an air-source heat pump. My guess is you won’t regret it.
