I attended the 7pm public meeting regarding the North Frontenac Battery Storage System Project Proposal at the Township office on Aug 27th last week and I was not impressed. For such a large company, you would have thought Alectra Energy Solutions could have found a better representative to introduce us to their plan. I found he was hard to hear and not very forthcoming with information that actually mattered to our Township, but he drowned us in generic technical facts and overheads that he covered far to quickly. It felt like he was a car salesman trying to sell us a car that we couldn't afford and didn't need.
Fire-Safety risks aside, I do hope our Mayor and Council consider the cost of Township staff hours that all of us taxpayers will be paying, if they choose to pursue this any further because it sure sounded like a lot of time and effort was going to be needed to present this company with a proposal that may be for nothing. We do need economic development and a factory that brought tax dollars and work for local people would be Fantastic, but this does not feel like a good fit for our township. I do not support this at all. I urge the township to throw this fish back.
