For years, Scott Reid has been a familiar name in our riding.
As a long-time incumbent, he has enjoyed the support of voters who, election after election, have put their votes in his favour.
The CPC has designated our riding as a so called “safe seat” for them. Is that why we see very little in the way of plans for our riding from the incumbent?
As we head toward another election, I must ask if we are voting for real representation for our riding, or simply just voting out of habit and familiarity?
Reid’s endorsement of Pierre Poilievre in September 2022, when he was elected leader said, “He is happy with the results and believes Poilievre will be the next Prime Minister”, and that should make us think.
Poilievre has built his campaign on the notion that “Canada is Broken.”
While there are certainly challenges facing our country, his divisive rhetoric does little to offer concrete solutions, just more anger and blame.
I would like to ask, does Scott still have the same opinion of Poilievre? From a riding perspective does Scott Reid truly represent and support us. Why is he spending more time attending grand openings and municipal/corporate events over the years rather than engaging directly with the people who elected him to represent and benefit our community?
I searched for Scott’s election campaign plan for 2025, guess what, he does not have one! So I went to his website, and nothing has been posted since November 2024.
Michele Foxton on the other hand has a very detailed election plan https://michellefoxton.ca/ .
I do like Scott as a person, but we need committed, strong, present, and accountable leadership with someone who is engaged and listens to constituents, not just someone who appears when there’s a ribbon to cut.
If we voters want to see change, we need to send a message that blind loyalty isn’t enough.
We should be voting for representation that works for us, not just for a familiar name on the ballot. Especially, when our riding will need much support with the tariffs and economic uncertainty that lies ahead.
The rest of the country is seeing this based on recent polls, do we want to be left behind the rest of the country yet again? Do we want our Member of Parliament to be on the wrong side of the house without any meaningful input yet again? Or do we want to vote for Michele Foxton with fresh and solid plans, with true solutions and effective representation of our needs?
