The street sweepers from the big city of Ottawa showed up to clean our streets in Sydenham this week. They are doing a decent job with just street sweeping trucks. My only concern is that they keep running to a fire hydrant and putting our costly water into their trucks to clean our streets.
My water bill from Sydenham was just over $200 for 3 months of water. Only 2 people live in my house so we don’t use much. How much do those street sweepers use? I’ll bet that one truck full is more than the water we use in 3 months. And they just kept filling up the trucks, many times per day over a 2 to 3 day period and they’re not finished yet.
Based on my bill, did they use close to $5000 worth of water? The difference in the bid? I don’t know; what I do know is the local contractor knows better than to draw water from a fire hydrant but big city contractors have their own tool to open the valve. Did we save money or lose? This is just my opinion.
